Access Granted, Then what?

2 Peter 1:2-4, “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

This above verse details all the things that Jesus has made available to us. We also have His Spirit living and dwelling in us. All these things were made a reality when He hung on that cross and went to heaven and washed the Heavenly altar with His blood. After that Jesus told us that we can come boldly before the throne of Grace. Our access was granted. The question comes, what do we do with all the things that Jesus provided for us?

2 Peter 1:5, “But also for this very reason, giving all diligence….”

Holy Spirit in 1 Peter 1:5, goes on to mention the fruits of the spirit. The bridge between what Jesus has made available and it being manifested in the earth is diligence. The definition of the Greek word is ‘earnestness in accomplishing, promoting, or striving after anything.’ The root word in Greek means ‘of disciples listening to their teacher’s instruction are said to be at his feet.’

God commands us to diligent throughout the scriptures because that is the bridge. He tells us what to be diligent in. In Joshua 1:8 and proverbs 4:20-23, God tells us to be diligent in studying and reading His word. Making His word a priority in our lives. For us to finish our race of life we must be diligent in doing what God expects us to do.
