As a believer Love is one of the most taught and talked about truths in the body of Christ. This is done because of the importance of Love. In 1 John we discover that God is Love. He doesn’t have Love, He is Love. When we are told to walk in Love, we are being told to walk in God. What they mean is walk in godly attributes; or you can say, walk in loving attributes. In 1 Timothy 1:5, we see the attributes or fruits of love. The presence of these three attributes are the evidence of Love.
1 Timothy 1:5, “Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith….”
Pure heart, good conscience, and sincere faith are the fruits or attributes of love. If you ever want to check or measure your ‘love barometer’ those are the things you need to check in your heart.
A pure heart means good intentions. Doing things in the integrity of our hearts. The conscience of a person is like their GPS. Holy Spirit will use our conscience to lead us in this life. We are to be sensitive to it because of it’s of value to Holy Spirit and to ourselves. Sincere faith refers to being faithful. Being who you are in every situation.
