Luke 2:13-14“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
“Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
This time of the year the birth of Jesus is preached, written, and talked about above everything else. And in the spirit of Christmas, I guess I will fall in line and add my two cents. I chose the above scripture to talk about this season because this was the purpose of our coming savior. The birth and the eventual death of Jesus changed the relationship between earth and heaven. Mankind and God didn’t have a good relationship because of Sin. Sin caused a big divide between a Father and His children. The only way to get His children back was to send His only begotten Son.
John 3:16-17
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
John 3:17, tells us what God should have done. He should have condemned the world, but He chose to save it because His love for His children is greater than Sin. That is why Holy Spirit through Paul said that where sin abounds grace does much more abound. One of the best definitions of grace is grace is the expression of Love. Jesus is grace; so that means He is the expression of God’s love to His children.
John 3:16 also adds that Jesus is God’s only begotten Son. John 1:12-13 says, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” Now because of Jesus we become God’s children when we believe in Him. When we celebrate this season let us all keep that in mind. That we have become God’s children.
