How Jeff found his Purpose – Part 3: The Coffee Shop (Part 2)

Coffee shops

Jeff walked into the coffee shop after work and he saw Benny was already there waiting for him and he was with his wife.

“How are you Jeff? This is my wife Bree. I hope it’s okay she joined us.”

“That’s okay Benny. Now I get two brains to pick off information.”

“I know last time you said you had a lot of questions and we had to cut the meeting short. But we are here go ahead and ask your heart away.”

“When I went home last night I googled whether the creation story in the Bible is true and I got so many articles from scientists who said that it is impossible for creation to be true. What do have to say to that?”

“How can the blind lead the blind and they don’t fall into a ditch!” Benny said in frustration.

“Let me ask you a question,” Bree, Benny’s wife, asked as she grabbed a book from her purse, “In this book in front of me, did the words just fall in it? Did the colors just fall in it? Did the tree just fall by itself and turn into paper then into a book? Doesn’t the existence of the book prove that somebody with intelligence put it together. This person had a vision of what they wanted, and they intelligently put the book together.”

“That is correct. Part of my job is to put instruction manuals together and sometimes we turn them into books and that is a lot of work and money.” Jeff said

“If putting a book together is a lot of work, then tell me how much work would it be to put together a body with 37.2 trillion cells. The brain alone has over 100 billion cells. The most sophisticated computer we have today pales in comparison with the brain. Why are we first to throw out the possibility of intelligent design within creation?” Bree asked.

“Just now as you were talking this thought came to my mind of the time when I cut my finger and it slowly healed itself. If you look at the finger you wouldn’t even know I was cut at one point. I have always wondered since then, how in the world is that possible. If all this was an accident why does it seem to be so well thought out and planned. That thought has always been in mind for the past five years. Doesn’t matter what I do, it just doesn’t go away.” Jeff said

“I really like that example you used Bree,” Jeff continued, “You got me thinking about this Jesus thing in a way that I would never have looked at it. Another question I have is, if you are correct and God does exist, why do terrible things happen. Like yesterday, you were robbed, was that God’s doing. Why would such a powerful being not intervene with the problems that we are having down here on earth. Unless He Himself is bad and He enjoys seeing us suffer. When I was younger, my uncle was shot, and he died on the spot. At his funeral they had this preacher speak and he said this was God’s doing and that God needed him in heaven more than we needed him here. He left his wife and two daughters here alone and they were never the same again. I remember thinking to myself, how selfish is this God that He just takes people away when it suits Him and doesn’t think about the consequences of His actions.” Jeff said with a lot of anger in his voice.

At this time the coffee shop got quiet and they all were intently listening to hear what Benny or Bree would say in response to Jeff’s comments.

“Religion tells us that God is in control of everything, but if you look at scripture it states the opposite.” Benny explained, “In Genesis 1:26, God gives His authority over creation to the man and the woman. This is confirmed in Psalms 8:5-9, and Psalms 115:16. The man and the woman lost their authority after they disobeyed God. God didn’t reclaim this authority, but Satan seized it the moment he had a chance. Look at what Satan said to Jesus in Luke 4:5-6, “Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.” Also 2 Corinthians 4:4 confirms this truth. Now as we speak we have two kingdoms on this earth, we have the kingdom of Satan and the Kingdom of God. If you are not born again, you will live in the Kingdom of Satan and Satan is your father (John 8:44), and he has authority over you. If you get born again, you are translated in the kingdom of God and God becomes your Father.”

“I’m sorry to cut you off but I feel like I have information overload. Let me first digest this and then we can continue with the two kingdoms, and who has authority in the earth. Can we meet tomorrow and continue?” Jeff asked.

“I can’t meet tomorrow, I have some meetings out of town for the next three days. I will come back on Saturday. You can join us at our church and we can continue after church.” Benny suggested.

“Okay that works, see you then.” Jeff said.

They hugged each other, and they said their goodbyes.
